Release
On the 24th June, 2000, the people of Rosehearty will see the efforts
of the Community Council, over a number of years, rewarded by the
formal presentation of the new Coat of Arms to the present Vice
Chair of the Community Council, Mrs June Whyte.
This will take place in the Square, Rosehearty, at 3.00p.m.
As well as a celebration of the millennium, the event marks more
than 300 years of Rosehearty’s past history and its hopes for the
future, shown by the presence of representatives of the oldest organisation,
the Masons, whose links with Rosehearty go back beyond records,
Members of the last Burgh Council and involvement of most of the
young people of the Community. The Letters Patent will be presented
by Charles Burnett, the Ross Herald at The Court of the Lord Lyon
and also in attendance will be Lord Forbes and Angus Farquharson
O.B.E., Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire.
Specially minted medals, sponsored by the Rosehearty Project, will
be given to all those aged 16 years and under on the 24th
June, 2000, who are resident within the Parish of Rosehearty. These
young people will also be given a copy of the 1681 Rosehearty Charter,
sponsored by the Friends of Pitsligo Castle
A newly commissioned flag will by blessed by the Parish Minister,
Dr. Ian G. Thom and flown from a flagpole in the Square.
