Just dropped by to thank Rosehearty folk for joining our protest at the Aberdeenshire Council meeting the other day against closure of 69 public toilets in Aberdeenshire. Imagine! Shutting public conveniences in places like Rosehearty, Whitehills, Banff, Gardenstown, Oldmeldrum, Ellon, etc. How can you encourage tourism, if you aren't hospitable to people when they visit you?!

It is great to see Rosehearty again, i used to live in 9 loch street as a kid, my mum and dad used to own the shop call V,G after that Wool shop. It is sad that is no swimming pool there any more as i used to go swimming every day in the summer. I do miss Rosehearty.

Interested in Duthie genealogy. My grandparents were from the Broch and before that, Cairnbulg.
I had been told that the Duthies came from a Dutch ship which foundered. I see that you mention that Rosehearty was founded by Danes in the 14 century.

This really made my day to discover this site. I was born in Rosehearty in 1934. My mothers maiden name was Ritchie, my grandfather was Andrew Ritchie, I was born in the family home 15 Dingwall Street. Brought up in Johnstone spent all my summer holidays in Rosehearty swimming at Tarlair for the swimming club, spent many happy days over the West rocks at DOOS GUITE??? and also fishing from point of pier with my WANNIE. Went to sea as marine engineer all my working life in Merchant navy from 1954. Came out to work for Union shipping in N.Z. in 1957, retired 1992 sailing as chief engineer from 1966. Great site and will visit it often. If Alex Thompson, Peter Cromie, Jackie Tooor any of the slater boys visit it get in touch.
