Just felt the old tug at the heart ,as I browsed through the Broch and Rosehearty,as many of my old shipmates from the fishing days around the coast .Now retired in Canada believe it or not, and one can hardly imagine lasting this long after the hard days of herring drifting and seine netting out of the Broch.Life has been good, but I dream often of getting back for a wee trip now and then to just keep in touch.Arthur

My grandparents, (George and Mary-Jean Forbes) lived for years at 7, Fordyce Street. My father (James Ritchie Forbes), drowned during WWII, is also buried in the churchyard. I used to holiday in Rosehearty and actually spent two years at school there from 1944 to 1946. If there are any decendants of George and Mary Jean, I would love to hear from them.

My ancestor, Andrew Cant, was a tutor for the Pitsligo family around 1630. He was also the first parrish minister. The parishoners, who had no liking for him, nick named him "Cant Andrew" because of his whining and drawling delivery of sermons.

I have just learned of the tragic and devastating news of Mark Dewar, I have no way of communicating directly with the family from my current location but want them to know that we all share in their loss. We have just lost a very nice and kind young man and the entire village will mourn. No words are adequate.
