1st Rosehearty Guides O R G A N I S A T I O N S

Being a guide you become part of the biggest movement for young people. You are part of a family in a unit. You belong to a patrol (group) within the unit and the unit is very much a family. As a guide you make a promise you will go places, make things happen, try new things, learn to look after yourself, be part of a group of friends, think about your faith and how you live your life, help to change the world, work with people, be part of something which is world-wide. In fact you will be prepared for adulthood. Most of all Guiding is FUN!

In Rosehearty we are lucky to have:
1: Rainbows 5 - 7yrs old
2: Brownies 7 - 10yrs old

Description of What Organisation Does:
The first Rosehearty Guides were founded by Mrs. Helen Scott and apart from two years 1966-68 there has always been a Guide Company in Rosehearty.

Mrs. Marlene Partridge started in 1968 and is still Guider there. At present (June, 1998) there are 32 girls in the unit with four assistant Guiders. We have a wide and varied programme with many challenges

Our Challenges
Pre-promise - To be completed before making the promise.

8 Challenges completed at your own capability
Exploring the Arts; Giving Service; Keeping fit; Getting to know people; Becoming a homemaker; Keeping the Guide Law; Enjoying the out-of-doors; Thinking for yourself.

The girls complete many badges within these eight challenges which often result in visits to different places e.g. fire station, swimming pools etc.

We camp under canvas every year and/or have a holiday. Camp takes us to many varied farms and fields. Over the years we have been on holiday to the Borders of Scotland, Belgium, Jersey, twice to Switzerland and next year we are going to Austria. We travel by bus and we stay in Chalets or Hostels.

Our Age group is 10-15 years and the goal many girls aim for is to gain their Baden-Powell Trefoil.

Many employers ask if girls have been in guiding.
